Description

Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray is a nasal medication designed to alleviate the symptoms of hayfever, also known as allergic rhinitis. The active ingredient in Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray is fluticasone propionate. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called corticosteroids, which are used to reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.

Directions

Using Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray correctly is essential to ensure its effectiveness and safety. Follow these directions carefully:
1. Shake the Bottle: Before each use, gently shake the Pirinase Nasal Spray bottle to ensure the suspension is well-mixed.
2. Prime the Pump: If you are using the nasal spray for the first time or if it hasn't been used for a few days, you may need to prime the pump. To do this, pump the spray into the air until a fine mist is visible.
3. Blow Your Nose: Before using the nasal spray, blow your nose gently to clear any mucus.
4. Position the Spray: Hold the spray bottle with your thumb at the base and your index and middle fingers on the shoulders of the pump. Tilt your head slightly forward and insert the nozzle into one nostril, aiming it towards the back and away from the nasal septum (the wall between your nostrils).
5. Spray: While breathing in gently through your nose, press down on the pump to release a spray. Breathe out through your mouth.
6. Repeat: Repeat the process for the other nostril.
7. Wipe Nozzle: After each use, wipe the nozzle with a clean tissue or cloth and replace the protective cap.
8. Dosage: The dosage of Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray may vary, so always follow your healthcare provider's prescribed dosage and frequency. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
9. Duration of Use: It may take a few days of regular use for the full benefits to be realized. Continue using Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray as directed by your healthcare provider.
10. Consult Your Healthcare Provider: If you have any questions or concerns about the proper use of Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray, consult your healthcare provider or pharmacist.

Ingredients

Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray primarily contains the active ingredient fluticasone propionate, which is a synthetic corticosteroid. Inactive ingredients may also be present in the formulation to support the stability and effectiveness of the medication. These ingredients may include:
1. Microcrystalline Cellulose and Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium: These compounds are often used as suspending agents to ensure that the fluticasone propionate is well-distributed in the nasal spray.
2. Glucose: Glucose may be used as a stabilizer to help maintain the quality and shelf life of the product.
3. Polysorbate 80: This compound can act as an emulsifier, promoting the mixing of the ingredients in the suspension.
4. Edetate Disodium: Edetate disodium is used as a chelating agent, which helps prevent the degradation of the product due to trace metals.
5. Benzalkonium Chloride: This compound acts as a preservative, ensuring that the product remains free from harmful microorganisms.

Side Effects

While Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray is generally well-tolerated, it may cause some side effects. It's important to be aware of these potential side effects, although not everyone will experience them. If you do, consult your healthcare provider:
Common side effects may include:
1. Nasal Irritation: You may experience a mild burning or irritation in your nasal passages.
2. Nosebleeds: Some individuals may have occasional nosebleeds.
3. Headache: Headaches are a relatively common side effect.
4. Sneezing or Runny Nose: You may temporarily experience these symptoms.
5. Throat Irritation: A scratchy or sore throat can occur.
6. Coughing: Some individuals may experience a mild cough.
Uncommon side effects that may require medical attention:
1. Severe Nasal Irritation: If you experience severe burning, stinging, or itching in the nose, contact your healthcare provider.
2. Nasal Septum Perforation: In rare cases, long-term use of nasal corticosteroids like Pirinase may lead to a hole (perforation) in the nasal septum.
3. Glaucoma or Cataracts: Long-term use of high doses of corticosteroid medications can, in rare cases, lead to eye problems such as glaucoma or cataracts.
4. Adrenal Suppression: Prolonged, high-dose use of corticosteroids may affect the adrenal glands. This is more likely in systemic corticosteroid use but should be monitored with nasal corticosteroids.
5. Allergic Reactions: Although rare, some individuals may experience an allergic reaction to the medication. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience hives, itching, swelling, or difficulty breathing.
It's important to report any side effects to your healthcare provider, even if they are not listed here.

Warnings

Before using Pirinase Hayfever Nasal Spray, it's important to be aware of certain warnings and precautions:
1. Allergies: Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to fluticasone propionate or any other corticosteroid medications.
2. Infections: Corticosteroids like fluticasone propionate may suppress the immune system. Inform your healthcare provider if you have had recent or ongoing infections, as the medication can make them worse.
3. Eye Issues: Report any existing eye problems to your healthcare provider, as corticosteroids can increase the risk of glaucoma or cataracts.
